BOCA RATON, Fla. – Health Insurance Now, a licensed health insurance brokerage and a division of United Enrollment Services LLC, said more individuals and families are looking beyond government Marketplace plans and turning to year-round private coverage. The company, which says it has helped people find coverage for 25 years, compares plans from more than 25 national carriers and reports that consumers increasingly want to weigh cost, doctor access and enrollment timing side by side.

Marketplace enrollment follows a yearly calendar, and people who miss the window or experience a life event can feel they have few options. A new job, a move, a lapse in employer coverage or simply a premium that has become hard to manage can all prompt a fresh look at the market. Private plans are not tied to that calendar, according to Health Insurance Now. The company says applicants can enroll at any point in the year, and coverage can often begin within 24 to 48 hours of approval, depending on the carrier and the applicant’s circumstances.
“Many people we talk with had no idea that private health insurance was something they could start at any point in the year,” said Matthew Sechter, CEO of Health Insurance Now. “They assumed a missed deadline meant going without coverage for months. Part of our job is simply showing them that it does not have to work that way, and then helping them compare what is actually available.”

Cost is another reason shoppers are looking at alternatives. The company states that private plans are often 30% to 50% less expensive than Marketplace plans with a similar deductible. Health Insurance Now notes that savings, availability and eligibility vary by state, plan and individual, and it encourages consumers to request quotes instead of relying on averages. Network access is a second consideration. The company points to private PPO networks with nationwide access and says about 90% of doctors accept private plans, which it describes as an important point for people who travel or want to keep their current providers.
Applicants work with licensed agents by phone. The brokerage’s proprietary software helps match each applicant with plan options from its carrier network, and quotes are typically available within minutes. The company handles the enrollment paperwork and continues to support customers after coverage begins. Health Insurance Now also points out that private plans differ from Marketplace plans in important ways. Some plans exclude pre-existing conditions, so agents review plan details with each applicant before enrollment rather than after.
“Nobody should have to decode plan documents alone while a deadline is ticking,” Sechter said. “Our mission has always been to simplify a complex system and provide peace of mind, and that starts with a real person on the phone who can explain the choices in plain language and stay with you after you enroll.”
